Edith Mosimann from Steffisburg initiated the project. “At the beginning of the war in Ukraine, I saw a photo of a newborn baby in military clothing and told myself that this was not acceptable.” So without further ado, she organized women to knit children's clothing.
Edith Mosimann did not remain indifferent and asked herself what I could do. And so she began knitting clothes for Ukrainian children affected by the war. Edith turned to her entire circle of close relatives and acquaintances and distributed flyers in the surrounding homes asking for help with wool and looking for knitters. Gradually, 14 women organized themselves. After an appearance on SRF radio, Edith received many donations of wool and the number of women knitting rose to over 30.
The things these women knit are full of love and compassion. The children and their mothers feel this when they receive the knitted items. They have tears of joy and gratitude in their eyes because they realize that the world has not forgotten them, that someone far away in Switzerland is thinking of them and caring for them.
When I hear the things being distributed, I get goose bumps and tears of gratitude well up in my eyes.
Many, many thanks and a deep bow, dear women, from our entire SWITLO team
